Terms & Conditions For Supply Of Cast Iron Radiators

Cast Iron Radiators

All our traditional radiators are individually hand cast and assembled, thus total lengths/widths of the radiators can vary slightly. We strongly advise that you position your radiators before installing your pipe work. The Company will not be liable for any damage or losses incurred by the purchaser or their representatives for installation of pipe work prior to the goods being placed in situ. Unless otherwise specifically requested, radiators will be supplied bushed with ½” bottom pipe bushes. Plumbers - We strongly advise that plumbers are not booked until your radiators are on site. The Company will not be liable for any damage or losses incurred by the purchaser or their representatives for the booking of plumbers prior to the goods being placed in situ. Although all radiators are tested to six bar pressure before leaving our warehouse, we also strongly advise that all radiators are pressure tested prior to installation.

Power flushing heating systems.

Most chemicals used for power flushing are acid based and therefore can affect the rubber seals used in between each radiator section leading to leakage. It is vital if using this method of power flushing that a qualified and recognised company carry out this work as they will use other chemicals to neutralise and disperse any residue acid based chemical. All power flushing to be in accordance to BS 5449,1990 BS12828:2003 and BS7593 If power flushing is not done properly this can cause problems with boilers as well as the radiators and will nullify any guarantee against leakage with the radiators . We advise all customers to use the older method of using water to flush systems not only this is method more environmentally friendly it also prevents possible problems.

Do Not use water softener in your system as this can also damage and eventually corrode seals and will void your guarantee.

Maximum Assembly Size- All our sectional radiators are assembled to a restricted size due to haulage and manoeuvrability considerations. For most radiators this will be 10 - 15 sections or up to 900 mm lengths; however for Radiators in excess of these sizes they will be supplied up to the maximum size, together with additional loose sections with a radiator tool that will be charged and assembly instructions for on-site assembly. If assembly size is of key importance to the Purchaser this should be conveyed in writing to the Company.

If radiators are asked off the shelf these are not Tested and The Company will not be held liable for any defects or leakages

Assembly structure- Most of our sectional radiator will be supplied up to 15 sections with one integral leg at each end of the radiator. Radiators in excess of 15 sections will be supplied with extra integral leg sections. However, the Company reserves the rights to vary this assembly structure. If assembly structure is of key importance to the Purchaser this should be conveyed in writing to the Company. Painting & Finishes - Sectional radiators are supplied in a primer coating ready to be painted. The colour of the primer varies by radiator. We recommend that primed radiators are painted with either a hammered or enamel top coat (2-3 coats will suffice). Although radiators can be painted with almost any paint, some paint manufacturers tend to be reluctant to give guarantees for prolonged heat resistance, which is why we recommend the use of enamel paint.

Polishing- Polished radiators are supplied coated with a thin layer of oil or if requested Lacquer .

Polished oiled radiators should be kept oiled by applying a thin coat of oil every 2 months. This will protect the cast iron from rusting. Oils used can be anything from Danish oils to WD40 they must be clear and long lasting. If you forget to oil your radiator, depending on the moisture within the environment, a thin coat of rust may appear. This can easily be removed by applying a thin coat of ‘T-Cut’ and then re-oiling the radiator. Do not put any damp clothes onto your radiators as this will cause them to rust. Lacquered radiators need less upkeep and although unusual should not rust if they do we can provide extra lacquer to be applied by customer . However the lacquer can colour eventually and give a deeper finish.
