Some bathroom projects are simple supply jobs. Others begin with an idea that has to be designed, engineered, manufactured and moved across continents before it can be enjoyed by guests. Our work for PRIESTEREGG in Leogang, Austria, was firmly in the second category.

PRIESTEREGG is a luxury alpine resort high in the mountains, known for private chalets, natural materials and a very distinctive approach to wellness. The brief called for a set of large round stone resin baths that would feel completely at home in that setting: substantial, beautiful, practical and made specifically for the project. You can visit the hotel here: www.priesteregg.at.

From Concept to Design

The first stage was not simply choosing a bath from a catalogue. Bathroom Warehouse UK helped move the project from concept into technical design, working from drawings and dimensions so the baths could be made to suit the chalets and the wellness experience the client wanted to create.

Each bath was designed as a large stone resin piece, with the scale and presence needed for a premium hotel environment. The baths were exceptionally heavy, around 500kg each, which meant the design and manufacturing decisions also had to account for handling, packaging, freight and final delivery into the mountains.

Finding the Right Factory

For this project, the manufacturing route mattered as much as the design. We searched for a factory capable of producing a specialist quartz and stone resin bath to the required size, finish and quantity. The production run eventually covered 16 bespoke baths, making it one of the largest custom stone resin bath projects we have handled.

Factory paperwork from September 2009 shows the mould and production process being set up, followed by manufacturing photographs in October 2009. The project moved quickly for something of this scale, with design, sourcing, production and logistics coordinated over roughly four to five months.

Manufacturing a Statement Bath

Large format stone resin baths require careful finishing. The photographs from production show the baths being inspected and hand-finished, with attention paid to the rim, surface and overall shape. This is the kind of detail that matters in hospitality, where a bath is not just functional but part of the guest experience.

For hotels, chalets, boutique accommodation and luxury rental properties, a statement bath can become one of the most memorable parts of a room. It is also the sort of feature guests photograph, remember and talk about.

Logistics from Asia to Austria

Making the baths was only half the challenge. Each bath was large, delicate and extremely heavy, so the logistics had to be planned with care. The project involved freight from Asia into Europe, then onward delivery to Austria and up into the alpine location.

The delivery route was not a normal doorstep drop. Moving heavy stone resin baths into a mountain resort meant coordinating freight, packaging, timing and suitable transport for the final stages of the journey.
